Women’s cross country places two in top six, finish third as a team

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.-Junior Beth Gollin paced the Coast Guard women's cross country team to a third place finish at the Smith College Invitational held in Northampton, Mass. Gollin was the fourth overall finisher in the field of 204 runners and 18 teams, covering the hill 5K course in 19:58.98.

Coming in second for the Bears – and sixth overall – was freshman Gretchen Krause, finishing in a time of 20:03.03. Next across the line for Coast Guard was another freshman, Jenn Haley, who came in 24th overall.

The final two scoring runners for the Bears were sophomore Carolyn Smith (20:45.74) and junior Kendall Auth (21:10.40), placing 30th and 42nd, respectively. Other top performers for Coast Guard were freshman Chloe Benoist (21:17) and Meghan Kalinowski (21:18).

The team will be off next weekend, but will return to racing at the University of Southern Maine Invite on September 21st.
