GORHAM, Maine-Junior Beth Gollin paced the Coast Guard women's cross country team with a 54th place finish in the 243 runner field at the Southern Maine Invitational as the Bears collected a 12th place team finish. Despite that Coast Guard rested five of their top 10 runners the Bears were able to place ahead of seven other teams at the course that will be used in six weeks for the Division III New England Championships.
Gollin complete the course in a time of 19:34.92. There was a bit of a gap between Gollin and the next group of Coast Guard finishers who finished in 107th, 112th, 115th, and 118th, respectively. Sophomore Carolyn Smith ran the course in 20:30.28, followed by junior Kendall Auth (20:34.06), sophomore Jessica Mulroy (20:35.09), and senior Chelsea Sheehy (20:38.56) as the group of four scored in the 73rd through 76th spots at the meet.
MIT won the team title with just 52 points as Tufts was next closest with 54.
The team will return to action on Saturday, September 28th when they run at the Purple Valley Invitational, hosted by Williams College.
