Top Moments from 2017-18: Football

During the summer months, we want to take a look back at some of the outstanding accomplishments and special moments from the 2017-18 athletic seasons and revisit those events that each of our 25 teams celebrated this year.

We hope you enjoy looking back at the great accomplishments by our cadet-athletes and teams. We will go in alphabetical order today we highlight football. Next up on Tuesday, will be men's lacrosse.

Coast Guard beat Norwich 13-9 on the road as the team's faced off for the first time since 2005 in the battle for the Mug. Senior Cam Cecchini took a screen pass from junior Ethan Goldcamp and scampered 73 yards for a touchdown, in the fourth quarter for the only touchdown of the game. The Bears started 3-1, the best start in 10 years.

In a monumental announcement, ESPN visibly extended and deepened its commitment to honoring America's veterans with live coverage of the annual Secretaries Cup football game between the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy during Veterans Day weekend. The game took place at home and was the first of an extended contract with ESPN to cover the Secretaries Cup Game.

Sophomore defensive back Patrick Crowley was named a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) second team All-conference selection. Crowley started all 10 games at cornerback for the Bears and was second on the team with 67 tackles and led the way with 49 solo tackles and two interceptions.  He earns All-conference honors for the first time in his career.
