KINGS POINTS, N.Y.-- Coast Guard men's soccer used three different goal scorers on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Merchant Marine, 3-0 on the road. Both teams are now 3-2 on their seasons.
Sophomore Mike Daunt scored the first goal of the game coming from a penalty kick in the 17th minute to record his second goal of the season. The Bears had a 9-2 shot advantage and held the 1-0 lead throughout the first half.
Junior Seth Anderson scored his third goal of the season as Daunt sent him a pass, leading him to goal to finish with a low shot past the Mariners goalkeeper Chase Miller in the 53rd minute. Less than four minutes later, sophomore Robbie Fugett fired away a one-timer coming off a free kick from senior Brock Hassett to give the Bears their third and final goal of the game.
The Bears had a 17-12 overall shot advantage and had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Coast Guard senior goalkeeper Dakota Harich had three saves in the victory as he records his first shutout of the season. The Mariners goalkeeper Chase Miller had three saves in the loss.
The Bears are back in action at home on Tuesday night when they host Salve Regina at 6:00 PM.
