Why did you choose to come to the Coast Guard Academy? I love boats and America.
How long have you been sailing? How did you start sailing? I have been sailing since I was in about 9th grade. I was always interested as a kid but never had the means to. Finally I joined a local dinghy racing team in AZ, about an hour from where I lived. A year later I bought an old boat in California with my dad and hitched it back to AZ, so that I could sit in lakes surrounded by cliffs with virtually no wind.
What is your favorite thing about the sailing team at Coast Guard? The opportunity to go out and sail in these events is such a blessing...something that most people can only do if they have entered the professional sailing community and have a significantly bigger bank account than I currently posses.
What other activities/positions/clubs are you involved with on campus? I play club soccer on weekdays and am part of Officers' Christian Fellowship.
What is the sailing achievement that you are most proud of? I am most proud of getting the opportunity to watch the underclassmen develop in skill at such an incredible rate, thanks to the coaching and efforts of all of the upperclass on the team.
What are your future sailing plans and career goals after graduation? I plan to own a boat somewhere warm and sail it often.
Tell us something that your teammates would be surprised to know about you? I got a 34 on the ACT.
