Hvozdovich, Hattman Earn All-NEWMAC Honors

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard Academy senior Emma Hvozdovich and sophomore Carly Hattman have been named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-conference softball team.

Hvozdovich, the Bears starting centerfielder, was named to the first team while Hattman, the first baseman earned second team honors. Both players earned All-NEWMAC recognition for the first time in their careers.

Coast Guard finished 22-13 overall and 10-8 in the NEWMAC earning a spot in the conference tournament for the first time since 2013.

Hvozdovich hit .366 and led the Bears with three doubles, eight homers, 40 RBI's and a .713 slugging percentage. Her eight homers were tied for the most in the NEWMAC while she was third with her 40 RBI's, the seventh most in a single-season in program history. She is the first Coast Guard player to earn first team All-NEWMAC honors since Jessie Richardson in 2014.

She finishes her career fifth all-time at the Academy with 17 homers, sixth with 106 runs scored and 105 RBI's and ninth with 144 hits.

Hattman, who missed the last 14 games last season with an injury, had a breakout season leading the NEWMAC with a .450 batting average. She led the Bears and was fifth in the NEWMAC with 17 stolen bases and led the team and was seventh in the conference with 35 runs scored. Hattman also led the team with a .500 on base percentage.

Senior Casey Cruzpino was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
