DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Kaleigh Putnam had a game-high 22 points leading Endicott to a 71-62 win over Coast Guard in the consolation game of the 21st Annual Lafrance Hospitality Classic at UMass Dartmouth.
The Gulls trailed 52-48 after three quarters, but outscored Coast Guard 23-10 in the fourth quarter to improve win their first game of the season.
Senior Micaela Martinelli had a team-high 15 points, nine rebounds and a career-high seven assists to earn a spot on the All-tournament team for Coast Guard.
Junior Breanna Wood added nine points and nine rebounds for the Bears, who drop to 1-3 on the season.
Endicott led 31-28 at halftime and Coast Guard trailed 43-37 with 5:12 left in the third quarter before scoring six straight to pull even at 43 on a layup by freshman Emma Puddington. The Bears led 52-48 after three quarters.
Freshman Katie White's bucket gave the Bears a 54-48 lead with 9:28 left before the Gulls scored nine straight to start a 14-2 run to take a 62-56 lead with 3:41 remaining.
Wood hit a 3-pointer making the score 62-59 with 2:12 left, but Endicott scored seven of the next eight points to put the game away.
Coast Guard was 24 of 75 from the floor (32 percent) and connected on 5 of 28 from 3-point range while Endicott shot 40.7 percent in the win (22-54) making 3 of 13 from behind the arc.
The Bears are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 25th at Conn. College for a 1:00 tip.
