NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Coast Guard women's lacrosse team fell to Babson 14-1 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action, Wednesday night at Cadet Memorial Field.
With the loss the Bears fall to 3-12 on the season and 0-7 in conference play. The Beavers improve to 9-4 overall and 6-0 in the NEWMAC.
Coast Guard's lone goal scorer on the night was freshman Abigail Bradford. She now has 21 goals and 26 points on the year.
Babson was led by junior Carlotte O'Halloran who had a game high seven points with a goal ad six assists. Senior Francesca Giovanucci had a game high four goals while sophomore Mairead Williams notched three points with two goals and one assist. Senior Emily Bresnehan, junior Julia Harrigan and freshman Taylor Herrmann all had two points as well.
The Beavers scored 11 in the first for the early lead and then settled down and possessed the ball in the second half to stay unbeaten in NEWMAC play.
Senior Hannah Delguercio (3-12) made six saves on 20 shots allowing 14 goals.
Freshman Olivia Phelan (5-2) faced zero shots on goal earning the win. Classmate Stevie Burger entered the game in the second half allowing one goal on two shots and made one save.
Coast Guard closes out their season this Saturday, April 22nd, when they take on the Smith Pioneers on the road. Opening draw is 1:00 pm.
