NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior Sarah Hills scored the only goal of the game on a header in the 19th minute leading Coast Guard to a 1-0 win over Clark in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

The Bears beat Clark for the third straight season to improve to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play while the Cougars drop to 2-5-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the NEWMAC.

Freshman goalkeeper Anna Niedermeyer (1-0) registered five saves in her first collegiate start to pickup her first college win for the Bears.

Hills took a pass from classmate Hannah Jansson and beat senior Gabby Paolini for her team-high fifth goal of the season while it was Jansson's first assist of the year.

Paolini (2-5-2), who had six saves in the game, came up big in the 65th minute stopping Hills on a penalty kick with a diving stop to keep it a one goal deficit.

Clark outshot the Bears 14-9.

"It was nice to get a conference win in front of a great energetic Parents' Weekend crowd," said Coast Guard head coach Susan Grant. "I was pleased with the performance of our defense and the job that Anna did in goal making her first career start."

Coast Guard is back in action on Wednesday at 7:30 in the final non-conference game of the season when the Bears host Mitchell in a soccer doubleheader with the men's team taking on the Mariners at 5 p.m.
