Grant Named NEWMAC Coach of the Year; Hurley, Miller Earn All-Conference Honors

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard Academy head women's soccer coach Susan Grant has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Coach of the Year while seniors Claire Hurley and Lizzie Miller earned All-conference honors for the second straight season.

Grant led the team to 6-3-1 record in NEWMAC play for the straight season and this year the Bears were the second seed in the conference tournament, the highest seeding in program history. She earned Coach of the Year honors for the first time in her career.

Hurley was named to the first team for the second straight season. She led the Bears with 10 goals, six assists and 26 points as she played in the field the final 17 games after playing the first two games of the season in goal. Hurley finished her magnificent career with a school record tying 33 goals and owns the program records with 20 assists and 86 points.

Miller earned second team honors for the second straight season. She anchored the Bears defense which posted six shutouts this season and Miller scored a pair of goals and added one assist.
