SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Mary Sweet hit .706 and tied a career-high with 12 kills as Coast Guard ran its win streak to six straight and remained unbeaten in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play with a 3-0 road win at Mount Holyoke.
The Bears won by game scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-10 to improve to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference while the Lyons drop to 2-10 overall and 0-3 in the NEWMAC.
Lauren Hatfield added a season best seven kills while Amanda Dake, Maddie James and Noelle Tursky each added six kills in the win for the Bears.
Veronica Hine and Dake led the Bears with 11 digs each while Makenna Martin had a match-high 19 assists while Tursky added 18.
The Bears would score the final five points of the opening game for the 25-15 win.
In game two, the Lyons jumped to a 3-0 lead and led 19-17 before scored five straight points, including back-to-back service aces from Tursky as the Bears took a 22-19 lead and led on for the 25-22 win.
Coast Guard scored seven of the first eight points in the third game, led 15-3 and cruised to the 25-10 win.
The Bears are back in action when they host MIT in a key NEWMAC game on Saturday at noon.
