SARATOGA, N.Y. – Freshman Kaitlyn Mooney remained undefeated in 5K races to start her Coast Guard career winning the Saratoga Invitational hosted by RPI.

Mooney ran 17:07.5 to top the field of 221 runners. Her time is the fastest 5K in program history besting the time of 17:48 set by All-American Tammy Wilcox in 1995. Mooney now owns the fastest 5K and 6K in Coast Guard women's cross country history.

To put her time in further perspective, Mooney's time of 17:07.5 was just behind two-time national champion Amy Regan of Steven's Institute who ran 17:06.2 on the same course.

Bates won the meet with 36 points followed by host RPI with 69 points. The Bears were ninth with 240 points.

Junior Anita Green was the Bears second runner across the line for Coast Guard in 47th place in a time of 19:05.5. Senior Rachel Burchill followed up Green in 19:20.3 for a 58th place finish.

Junior Nina Ragle was fourth finisher for the Bears coming across the line in 61st place (19:26.2) followed by sophomore Kirsten Carson in 19:42.3 (73rd place).
