WATERFORD, Conn. – Sophomore All-American Kaitlyn Mooney won the Connecticut College Invitational leading Coast Guard to a solid fifth place finish.
Mooney got a bit of revenge and ran a winning time of 21.09 beating Natalie Cooper from TCNJ and Natalie Bettez from Tufts. Bettez beat Mooney to win the Purple Valley Classic three weeks ago while Cooper beat Mooney two weeks ago at the Paul Short Run.
The four teams that beat Coast Guard are all ranked in the Top 16 nationally.
Freshman Laurel Felt (22:29) was 19th, Olivia Suski (23:02 personal best) placed 45th and senior Anita Green was 59th with a time of 23:16 to lead the Bears.
"Kaitlyn established that she is one of the top runners in the nation with the win today over some very talented competition," said interim head coach Greg Ahnrud. " In beating a nationally ranked team and a half dozen regionally ranked teams, the women have solidified themselves in a national ranking and are ready for to challenge the best teams in New England and in the country."
