LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Junior Kaitlyn Mooney earned the eighth All-America honor of her career as she placed 34th at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship at EP Tom Sawyer State Park.
Mooney, who missed most of this season with an injury before returning for the New England Division III Championship last week, crossed the finish line with a time of 22:08.3 to become the first three-time All-American in program history. She placed fourth in each of the last two seasons. She is a five-time All-American in track.
"Kaitlyn's performance today was nothing less than remarkable," said head coach Ethan Brown. "After getting injured in the middle of September, she put in a tremendous amount of work so that she could run at regionals and then the NCAA's today. We are really proud of Kait for overcoming great odds to be CGAs first three-time cross country All-American."
She placed sixth at the New England Division III Championship in 21:36.7 last week and won the championship in each of her first two seasons.
Mooney was 28th after 1,000 meters (3:33.4), moved up to 22nd after 3,000 meters (10:40.02) and was 24th after 4,000 meters (14:40).
